Summer Itch

Remember as a kid, as Memorial Day approached so did the count down to the last day of school. This was always a great time of year with the exception of the dreaded end of year finals. Summer school or no summer school. I always managed to sneek by.
No Summer school for me.
Never went to camp either, the city streets were bettererer

Re: Summer Itch

Andy -I recall all the neighborhood kids heading down to the five and dime-cheapo high top sneakers, Indian mocasins,T shirts, dungeries, spaldines, black hard balls, soft balls.
Model's and the westside Army Navy stores for other City Street gear.
For us who never went to camp,it was a two week family vacation, city parks, city pools and beaches. One of two days out of the week just hanging out on a friends stoop. Weekly movie.
Day trips to West Point,Bear Mountain,Palisades Amusement Park. Bus rides out of the West Side Bus terminals. No expensive trips. Just great fun times and always back to our neighborhoods. Thanks for the flashback memories.

Re: Summer Itch

I also would count the days until school was out,and greatly anticipated the summer fun ahead. All the neighborhood fun in the streets, trips to Rockaway and Coney Island on the sub way, fishing most of the lakes and ponds in Queens, and also in Howard Beach and Broad Channel, and just take "adventure" rides on the subway,to different parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. Life was a blast during the summer, when you were a kid growing up in nyc. Never a dull moment. Going back to school after the summer fun was a real downer for me. Yea Andy, those were the best days of my life for sure !

Re: Summer Itch

A short while ago, water miscible oil paint is now to prominence,[ur=http://www.good.is/community/benjamanritt12]oil paintings[/url] somewhat replacing the use of traditional oils. Water soluble paints contain an emulsifier that permits those to be thinned with water (without with paint thinner), and allows fast drying times (1¨C3 days) when vary traditional oils (1¨C3 weeks).
