LaGuardia Community College

Focus

Collection of student reflections on their time during the COVID-19 lockdown in the Spring of 2020 – both photography and written reflections.

 History

In Spring of 2020, LaGuardia Community College students switched to remote learning and during this time they took photographs both inside their homes and on the streets of NYC. The first phase of this project has about 50 photographs from four students across the boroughs. Some documentation of food lines and BLM protests. In addition to written student reflections for this photography project, we are collecting essays from students who wrote COVID-related assignments for their classes – all will be archived in the same collection at the LaGuardia and Wagner Archives. Topics include mental health, fear of deportation, racism and bigotry, one student who ended up relocating to South Korea to be with her family.
