The Corona Chronicles
Focus
We archive COVID-19 responses and the Naming the Lost Memorials using our own archiving system built on Dublin Core principles. We are planning a web-based and possibly a gallery exhibit on the materials following the pandemic.
History
City Lore’s mission is to document, preserve and present NYC – and America’s – living cultural heritage. We began collecting creative responses to the COVID-19 pandemic on March 13th as an extension of our mission. The Corona Chronicles was initially titled Touching Hearts, Not Hands. We also serve as the archive for the Naming the Lost Memorials project.
Collection
We’ve created a group poem called “It Takes a Pandemic”; chronicled youth responses; oral histories of front line workers; song parodies; images of signs; memorials to those who have died of Covid; and poetry.
Form of Collection
Digital photography, audio, video, texts.
Emphasis
Our collection is primarily New York City-based but includes other cities and sites as well.
Time Period
March 13, 2020 to the present.
