Rogers Memorial Library

The founding of Rogers Memorial Library in 1893 was made possible due to a bequest made by Harriet Jones Rogers upon her death in 1892. The library’s first home, a Victorian Gothic building on the corner of Job’s Lane and Main Street, opened to the public in March of 1896. The library remained in its original building until November 3, 2000, when the New Rogers Memorial Library, designed by the architectural firm of Beatty, Harvey and Associates, opened at its new location at 91 Coopers Farm Road.

The local history collections at Rogers Memorial Library focus on the history and culture of Southampton and surrounding towns. Specialty materials in include historic Southampton town records, genealogy of Southampton families, the history and culture of the Shinnecock people, and the history of Rogers Library. The vast collection includes periodicals in hard copy and on microfilm, local history records, published and unpublished monographs, a vertical file collection, videos, governmental and organizational surveys and reports, photographs, maps, scrapbooks, postcards, and other materials.
