Amagansett Historical Association

The 1805 Phebe Cottage — one of four historic structures managed by the Association — houses the Kelsey Photo Archive, a collection of about 5,000 photographic images of Amagansett people and buildings from the earliest days of photography.

The Amagansett Historical Association is dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage of the hamlet of Amagansett for the benefit of the local community, scholars and students, and the general public that visits the area. The Association collects and disseminates information that illustrates its agrarian past, changes in domestic, social, and agricultural practice during the 19th century, and the transition to a resort economy.

Collections include items of local provenance such as carriages, furnishings, letters, and ephemera such as early photographs so that a record of the hamlet’s rural past will be preserved. The main focus is on the period from 1680 to 1925.
