Baldwin Historical Society and Museum
Founded in 1972, The Baldwin Historical Society and Museum collects, archives, and displays stories and artifacts pertaining to the rich history of Baldwin, Long Island. The Museum preserves Baldwin's local history through exhibits and programs. On display in a one-room museum built in 1976 are photographs, documents and other artifacts relating to the history of the community.
The Museum archives consist of collections of photographs, letters, journals, maps, newspapers, postcards, books, and antiques pertaining to the history and development of Baldwin and its surrounding communities. One archive treasure is its Music and Audio Recordings Collection, which the museum uses to play — upon request — hundreds of antique albums on its antique Victor Victrola. The growing collection includes vinyl records, cassette tapes and now, digital audio files donated or duplicated from the private collection of its members.
