Franklin Square Historical Society

The Franklin Square Historical Society was founded in 1976 as an invaluable community resource by its former President Paul van Wie, Ph.D. The Franklin Square Museum building was designed in 2000-2001 by the architectural firm of Angelo Francis Corva and Associates of West Hempstead, L.I. The Building is Georgian Revival in style, and refers to the famous Franklin Square National Bank building on Hempstead Turnpike. Inclusive in the plan is a large exhibit hall and a research library and archives.

The society has a collection of hundreds of artifacts and a photography archive, many of which have been on display in the exhibit spaces of the new museum that opened in October 2022.
