Hempstead Town Archives

The mission of the Hempstead Town Archives, in part, is to collect and preserve the records of the Town of Hempstead, to encourage the use of archival resources by the Hempstead community, and to promote the knowledge and study of Hempstead's history, programs, and goals.

The Hempstead Town Archives have been managed by the Town Clerk’s Office since 1982, at which point the clerk’s office provided funds for the management of the historic Old Town Hall records of the Town. These efforts have included the preservation and restoration of historical volumes, documents, and maps. Select collections of historic Hempstead have been digitized through the New York Heritage preservation page, and can be viewed at the following site: https://nyheritage.org/collections/historic-hempstead
